intransitive. To live in idle contentment or luxury in the manner of a lotus-eater (see lotus-eater n. 2); to pass the time pleasantly doing nothing productive.In quot. 1855 with punning reference to a travel book entitled Lotus-eating: a summer book; see quot. 18521 at lotus-eating n. 2.
