Etymology: < love n.1 + Old English -wende, suffix forming adjectives with the sense ‘conducive to, consisting of’ ( < the same base as wend v.1). The same suffix is shown by e.g. wrongwende adj., hālwende wholesome, hwīlwende transitory (compare whilend adj.).
Obsolete.
Lovable, beloved; loving, affectionate; lovely.
