Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Macedonicus.
Etymology: < classical Latin Macedonicus < ancient Greek Μακεδονικός < Μακεδον- , Μακεδών (see Macedon n.) + -ικός -ic suffix; in quot. 1585 via French, itself rendering Spanish. Compare earlier Macedonian adj.1 With later use compare German makedonisch (1825 or earlier), mazedonisch (1908 or earlier).
