Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish manoletina.
Etymology: < Spanish manoletina (1951) < the nickname Manolete ( < Manolo , familiar form of the forename Manuel + -ete , diminutive suffix: see -et suffix1) of Manuel Rodríguez y Sánchez (1917–47), Spanish bullfighter (whose father and grandfather both had the same nickname) + -ina -ina suffix.
Bullfighting.
A decorative pass in which the muleta is held behind the back in the left hand; = orteguina n.
