A yellow hydroxylated derivative of benzophenone which occurs (together with morin) in the wood of old fustic and mulberry and has been used in dyes; 2,3′,4,4′,6-pentahydroxybenzophenone, C₁₃H₁₀O₆. Cf. morintannic acid n. at morintannic adj.
