Origin: Probably formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: magni- comb. form, soliloquy n., ventriloquy n.
Etymology: Probably < magni- comb. form + -loquy (in e.g. soliloquy n., ventriloquy n.), after magniloquence n. Compare post-classical Latin magniloquium boastfulness (St Augustine). N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (mægni·lŏkwi) /mæɡˈnɪləkwɪ/.
