Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: majesty n., -ical suffix.
Etymology: < majesty n. + -ical suffix. Compare post-classical Latin majestativus majestative adj., Middle French magesteux , French majestueux majestuous adj., and also Middle English majestful, maiestful in same sense (attested twice in 15th cent.).
Now chiefly poetic.
