Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a borrowing from an Australian Aboriginal language.
Etymology: Perhaps < an Australian Aboriginal language of New South Wales.

Any of several small marine percoid fishes of the genus Atypichthys (family Kyphosidae or Microcanthidae), found chiefly in the coastal waters of eastern Australia and northern New Zealand and on the reefs.
