Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French madérisé.
Etymology: < French madérisé, past participle of madériser to affect with maderization (1902; se madériser to maderize) < Madère Madeira (1803; < Portuguese Madeira Madeira n.1) + -iser -ize suffix.The word has never been fully naturalized in English, as indicated by the pronunciation and retention of at least the final accent in the written form.
Of wine: affected with maderization.
