释义 | majoronn. Particle Physics. A massless particle with zero spin, formed by the combination of two antineutrinos, which has been suggested as a possible product of the simultaneous beta decay of two neutrinos. Also, more widely: any massless boson with coupling to neutrinos. ΚΠ 1981 Y. Chikashige et al. in Physics Lett. B. 98 265 If neutrinos are massive Majorana particles, lepton number is necessarily broken... There are three logical possibilities... (3) Lepton number is spontaneously broken globally, in which case a massless Goldstone boson appears in the theory... The associated Goldstone boson—which we shall call the majoron—is so weakly coupled to matter that its effects can for most practical purposes be ignored. [Note] We thank Graciela Gelmini for suggesting this name to us. 1988 New Scientist 14 Jan. 57/1 The half-life for double beta decay accompanied by the emission of a majoron in selenium-82 must be greater than 4.4 × 1020 years. 1996 Physical Rev. D. 54 3641/1 In many theories of physics beyond the standard model neutrinoless double β decays can occur with the emission of new bosons, so-called Majorons. 1996 Physical Rev. D. 54 3641/2 New Majoron models have been constructed; where the term Majoron means in a more common sense light or massless bosons with coupling to neutrinos. This is a new entry (OED Third Edition, June 2000; most recently modified version published online March 2022). < n.1981 |
