Compare Old French, Middle French malefaçon (1314 in the sense ‘deformity’; compare malefaction n.2), Middle French malefaction impotence caused by sorcery (1478).
Obsolete.
A sickness, esp. impotence or a fainting fit.

Origin: Probably a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin malefact- , malefacere , -ion suffix1.
Etymology: Probably < classical Latin malefact-, past participial stem of malefacere (see malefact n.) + -ion suffix1 (compare -faction comb. form), perhaps influenced by malefaction n.1, or by Old French, Middle French malefaçon (early 14th cent. in the sense ‘wrongdoing’) or post-classical Latin malefactio stolen property, product of an evil deed (12th-13th centuries in British sources).
