释义 | † malefigien. Nautical slang. Obsolete. rare. A seabird whose presence is said to presage bad weather (sometimes identified with the storm petrel). ΚΠ ?1780 Succinct Treat. Pop. Astron. 34 The appearance of the Malefigie at sea, is a certain forerunner of violent winds, and (early in the morning) denotes horrible tempests at hand. 1890 Cent. Dict. 3590/3 Malafiges, a sailors' name for a small sea-bird supposed to appear before a storm: apparently, the stormy petrel or Mother Carey's chicken.
