单词 malgré
释义

malgréprep.

Brit. /ˈmalɡreɪ/, U.S. /ˌmælˈɡreɪ/
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French malgré.
Etymology: < French malgré despite (see maugre prep.).The same word was earlier borrowed as maugre n., prep., and adv. (compare especially β forms s.v.); the present entry shows later reborrowing as an unnaturalized loan. With uses at sense 2a compare the title of Molière's play Le médecin malgré lui (1666). With malgré tout (see sense 2b) compare French malgré tout (1867 in Littré).
