Etymology: < Sinhala mal-kohā, lit. ‘flower cuckoo’, ultimately < Sanskrit mālā garland + koka, taxonym related to kokila cuckoo.

Any of several species of large, non-parasitic cuckoos of the subfamily Phaenicophaeinae, having very long tails and colourful bills, and found in the forests of South and South-East Asia.
