Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French marceline.
Etymology: < French marceline ( F. S. Beudant Traité élém. de minéralogie (ed. 2, 1832) II. 188) < the name of St Marcel , a town in the Piedmont region of north-western Italy, where the mineral was first found + -ine -ine suffix5.
Mineralogy.
An impure form of braunite.
