Etymology: < classical Latin auctōrāmentum (in post-classical Latin also autoramentum) terms of employment, contract, remuneration, salary, recompense, reward ( < auctōrāre to bind, oblige (see auctoration n.) + -mentum -ment suffix), with remodelling after author n.
Obsolete. rare.
An obligation, a stipulation.
