单词 meered
释义

meeredadj.

Origin: Of uncertain origin. Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: mere adj.2, -ed suffix1; mere v.2, -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Origin and sense uncertain. Perhaps < mere adj.2 + -ed suffix1, with the sense ‘sole, entire’; or perhaps < mere v.2 + -ed suffix1, with the sense ‘delimited, bounded’. Wells and Taylor ( William Shakespeare: a Textual Companion (1987) 552; following Johnson) prefer to emend the text to mooted (see mooted adj.1), although this word is not otherwise attested until 1650.
Obsolete. rare.
Perhaps: sole, entire (also explained as: delimited, bounded).
