Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with English elements. Etymons: Latin mell- , mel , -i- connective, -loquent comb. form.
Etymology: < classical Latin mell-, mel honey (see mell n.2) + -i- connective + -loquent comb. form. Compare post-classical Latin Melliloquium, title of a literary work (mid 15th cent. in British sources), French melliloque person who speaks with much sweetness (1801).
