Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French mégalographe.
Etymology: < French mégalographe (19th cent.) < mégalo- megalo- comb. form + -graphe -graph comb. form. Compare earlier megalography n., micrograph n.
Now historical.
A kind of camera lucida capable of producing traceable images of objects seen under a microscope and patterns produced by a kaleidoscope, formerly used in industrial pattern-drawing.
