Compare Mediterrane adj. and n.The syntactic analysis of the examples at branch B. is not entirely certain; they could perhaps both be construed as showing adjectival use (perhaps supported by the fact that in quot. ?a1475 at sense A. the word translates an adjective in the Latin text).
