Etymology: Blend of melt v.1 and welded adj. Compare meld v.3Quot. 1969 implies that this is an independently formed adjective, rather than a participial adjective from an unrecorded specialized sense of meld v.3
Of a fabric: consisting of artificial fibres made from more than one component and bound together by selective melting of one component.
