Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps < Old French, Middle French mesler to mix (see meddle v.) + -ade suffix (perhaps compare Occitan mescladis mixture, (Gascon) mesclada mixture, mesclader spatula for mixing gruel or porridge), although compare the synonymous malasade n.
Cookery. Obsolete. rare.
An omelette or a dish of scrambled eggs incorporating pieces of bread and served with sugar.
