Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element; probably modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: Latin metallum , -ize suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin metallum metal n. + -ize suffix, probably after Middle French, French métalliser (1580 in Middle French in past participle métalisé).
