Origin: A borrowing from Ojibwa. Etymon: Ojibwa mano:min.
Etymology: < Ojibwa mano:min (18th cent. in form malo:min ), of proto-Algonquian origin. Compare Menominee n.
North American. rare.
A name originally used by Ojibwa Indians and also occasionally more widely (esp. in Canada) for: wild rice, Zizania aquatica, or its seeds.
