Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with English elements; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: Greek μεριστός , -o- connective, -genetic comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek μεριστός divided, divisible (see meristic adj.) + -o- connective + -genetic comb. form, after German meristogen (1884 in passage translated in quot. 1887). Compare meristogenous adj.
Mycology. rare. Perhaps Obsolete.
= meristogenous adj. Cf. symphyogenetic adj. at symphyo- comb. form .

This is the mode of formation..in some pycnidia of Fumago... Other pycnidia are not meristogenetic but symphyogenetic formations.
