Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps formed within English, by conversion. Etymons: English mice , mouse n.
Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps < mice, plural of mouse n., with allusion to a cat being preoccupied with mousing, or when assumed to be dreaming about mousing (compare quot. 1984).
Bermudian English.
intransitive. To daydream; to be distracted or preoccupied. Chiefly in present participle.
