释义

mineralogyn.

Brit. /ˌmɪnəˈralədʒi/, U.S. /ˌmɪnəˈrɑlədʒi/, /ˌmɪnəˈrælədʒi/
Forms: 1600s– mineralogy, 1700s 1900s– minerology.
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin mineralogia.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin mineralogia (1636 in a work title) < minera mineral (see minera n.) + -logia -logy comb. form. Compare French minéralogie the science of mineral salts (1649), the science of minerals (1753; 1721 as minérologie), Italian mineralogia (a1770, < French), Spanish mineralogía (1803), Portuguese mineralogia; also Dutch mineralogie (1778), German Mineralogie (17th cent.), Norwegian mineralogi, Swedish mineralogi (1740).In form minerology perhaps re-formed after -ology comb. form, which has apparently also influenced the pronunciation.
