Etymology: < mis- prefix1 + praise v. Compare Old French mespreisier (c1180). Compare earlier dispraise v.In sense 2 probably after misprize v.2
Now rare.
1. transitive. To dispraise, disparage; to blame, find fault with. Obsolete (archaic in later use).
