Etymology: Apparently an alteration of descry v.1 after mis- prefix1, perhaps resulting from analysis of the first element of descry v.1 as dis- prefix and subsequent analogy with pairings of synonyms or near-synonyms in mis- prefix1 and dis- prefix; compare etymological note s.v. mis- prefix1.
English regional (northern). Obsolete.
transitive. To discover, detect, descry. Only in past participle.
