Etymology: < German Mipolam (1935; registered as a proprietary name in Warenzeichenblatt 31 Aug. 1106/2) < mipo- (apparently < mi- and -po- in Mischpolymerisat copolymer < mischen to mix (see mixed adj.²) + Polymerisat polymerizate n.) + -lam , of unknown origin (perhaps after German words in lam- corresponding to lamina n., etc., but compare also melam n.).

A proprietary name for: a type of plastic made from polyvinyl chloride, used for chemically resistant piping, containers, and floor coverings.
