Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin mīrābilia.
Etymology: < classical Latin mīrābilia marvels (used by Cicero also of supernatural phenomena, and in Vetus Latina and Vulgate and frequently in patristic writers of miraculous events of divine causation), use as noun of neuter plural of mīrābilis (see marvel n.1). Compare Italian mirabilia (a1388). Compare earlier mirable n.
With plural agreement. Things which inspire wonder; (usually spec.) miraculous events.
