Etymology: < Middle French, French molition apparatus, contrivance (1552 in Rabelais in sense 1; 1611 in Cotgrave in sense 2) and its etymon classical Latin mōlītiōn-, mōlītiō action of constructing, engineering, contrivance (of a plan), effort < mōlīt- , past participial stem of mōlīrī to make an effort, build, construct ( < the same base as mōlēs mass: see mole n.2) + -iō -ion suffix1.
Obsolete.

Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
The action or an act of grinding.
