Designating an abnormal plantar reflex in which there is extension of the big toe and fanning out of the other toes when the sole of the foot is stroked, typically indicative of disease of the cerebrospinal tract. Also figurative.A plantar reflex with extension of the big toe is a normal finding in very young infants.
