Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin monotessaron.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin monotessaron (late 15th cent.), irregularly < mono- mono- comb. form + -tessaron (in diatessaron diatessaron n.), with intended sense ‘one from four’.
A continuous narrative prepared from a collation of the four Gospels; = diatessaron n. 3. Chiefly in or with reference to book titles.
