Etymology: < post-classical Latin monoculus (see monoculus n. and adj.) + -ist suffix; compare oculist n. Compare French monoculiste (1649). N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (mǫ̆nǫ·kiŭlist) /məˈnɒkjʊlɪst/.
Obsolete. rare.
