单词 morous
释义

morousadj.

Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin morōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin morōsus morose adj.2; compare -ous suffix.Quot. 1594 in N.E.D. showed a mistranscription in the 1823 ed. for timorous in Southwell's Marie Magdalens Funeral Teares. The form morous with gloss ‘wayward, froward, pensive, testy, hard to please’ in the 2nd ed. (1661) of Blount's Glossographia is presumably an error for morose morose adj.1, the reading of other editions.
Obsolete.
Slow, lingering, sluggish; prolonged; (also) = morose adj.2 1.
