释义 | morachen. Music. A percussion instrument of the Ute people (Ute n.1), consisting of a notched wooden stick against which a shorter rod made of wood, bone, or metal is scraped up and down. The morache is usually played on top of a resonator such as an inverted basket. It produces a sound similar to that of the growl of a bear, and is therefore used by the Utes in providing musical accompaniment to their traditional bear dance (cf. bear dance n. 2).
