Etymology: < Afrikaans mos < Dutch regional (West Flanders) mos , variant of a shortened form of Dutch immers (Middle Dutch immers < immer (see evermoe adv.) + -s -s suffix1).In Afrikaans mos frequently follows the main verb. In English the word order generally reflects this, but mos can also precede the main verb or follow the predicate.
South African colloquial.
With concessive force, referring to what is known or generally acknowledged, or accompanying an explanatory clause: ‘after all’, ‘as you will agree’; ‘you see’. Sometimes with weakened sense, as a filler: ‘you know’.
