Editorial misreading of more honour, arising from Morris's misinterpretation as the ascender of a d of what later editors read as a mark of suspension above a u. In E. V. Gordon's 1953 edition, the line reads:
c1400 (?c1380) Pearl 475 What more honour mote he acheue Þat hade endured [etc.].
