A man from a remote or mountainous area of Ireland; (derogatory) such a man regarded as ignorant, uneducated, or conservative in outlook.Sometimes used by Northern Irish Protestants of Irish Catholics, esp. those living in the Irish Republic or those living in the Mourne or Sperrin mountains of Northern Ireland.
