Pharm. 34 224)) < ancient Greek μύρον unguent, perfume (see myronic adj.) + French -ine -in suffix¹, with epenthetic -s- (perhaps, as suggested by Trésor de la langue française, after émulsine emulsin n.).With myrosin cell compare French cellule à myrosine (1890) and German Myrosinzelle (1905; compare also German Myrosinbehälter (1909 in the passage translated in quot. 1914 for myrosin cell n. at Compounds)).
