单词 moyse
释义

moysen.

Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a borrowing from Dutch. Etymons: Dutch moes, mois.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps < Middle Dutch or early modern Dutch moes (in Middle Dutch also mois, mues) food, a meal, pottage, cooked vegetables, stewed vegetables or fruit (see moose n.1). Perhaps compare froise n. N.E.D. (1908) s.v. suggests that the word is < moyse in apple-moyse , variant of apple-moyse n., but this seems less likely in view of the difference in sense.
Obsolete. rare.
A kind of omelette.
