Etymology: < German Muromontit (T. Kerndt 1848, in Jrnl. f. prakt. Chem. 43 228) < Muromontium , post-classical Latin form of the name of Mauersberg in Saxony, where it was found + German -it -ite suffix¹.

Mineralogy. Now historical.

An uncharacterized silicate of beryllium, iron, and yttrium (perhaps a variety of allanite).
