Origin: A borrowing from Japanese. Etymon: Japanese nageire.
Etymology: < Japanese nageire, denoting a way of arranging flowers (1445), nominalized form of nage-ireru to throw into < nage-, combining stem of nageru to throw + ireru to put in.
A Japanese style of floral arrangement in which flowers are displayed in a simple, apparently casual way, usually in tall vases. Cf. rikka n.
