Origin: A borrowing from Tagalog. Etymon: Tagalog bahala na.
Etymology: < Tagalog bahala na, interjection, short for bahala na ang Diyos God will take care of it (or similar phrases with other agents) < bahala responsibility, care, caution + na , connective + ang the + Diyos God ( < Spanish Dios : see adios n.).
Philippine English.
Expressing an attitude of optimistic acceptance or fatalistic resignation, esp. in acknowledging that the outcome of an uncertain or difficult situation is beyond one's control or is preordained; ‘que sera sera’. Hence also as n.: an approach to life characterized by this attitude.
