Anatomy and Zoology.
A muscle. Only in the names of particular muscles with (usually postmodifying) classical Latin or scientific Latin adjectives and nouns.Although the word musculus is still used in the official names of muscles in Nomina Anatomica and Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria, it is usually omitted or translated in English language texts. Musculus rectus abdominis, for example, becomes rectus abdominis or rectus abdominis muscle.
