Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: myelo- comb. form, -oid suffix.
Etymology: < myelo- comb. form + -oid suffix. Compare French myéloïde (1855 in Littré-Robin), German myeloid (in Myeloid-Tumor, 1858 or earlier).
Histology and Pathology.
Of, relating to, or involving bone marrow cells; spec. (a) designating or relating to giant cells (osteoclasts) and giant cell tumours of bone (now historical); (b) designating, relating to, or involving granulocytes and their bone marrow precursors.
