Origin: Probably a borrowing from French. Etymon: French muison.
Etymology: Probably < Anglo-Norman and Old French muison moulting (c1170; c1125 in sense ‘change’) < classical Latin mūtātiōn- , mūtātiō (see mutation n.).
Hunting. Obsolete. rare.
The horn of a deer, when shed. In quot. 1664 humorously: either of the two horns said to grow on the forehead of a cuckold (see horn n. 7a).
