N-rays
N-rays n. (originally †n-rays) [ < from the initial letter of the name of the University of Nancy] Physics (now historical) a form of radiation supposedly discovered in 1903 by R. Blondlot of the University of Nancy, but later found to be spurious. N¹-rays (originally n₁-rays) were another supposed form of radiation that were said to have the opposite effect to N-rays.
