Etymology: < post-classical Latin nablum (Vulgate; compare classical Latin nablium , Ovid) < Hellenistic Greek νάβλα Phoenician harp, probably < a Phoenician noun cognate with Hebrew nēḇel (see nebel n.). Compare Middle French nable (1534).
